Are you are having a week in Spain, jetting off to the luxury of the Maldives or are planning a backpacking trip round Asia? Whatever your plans are this year I have been hunting around at the Dundee Overgate to find you the best summer travel buys for the summer in high street chains that you can find throughout the UK.

Luggage Essentials

Tripp has quality lightweight suitcases in a variety of designs and sizes including cabin size to allow you to avoid baggage charges. (Tripp are located within Debenhams) There was also a sale on during my visit so if you are quick you may be lucky to pick up a bargain.

Boots have a selection of Trunki cases which your little ones can ride on through the airports. If only they made these in larger sizes for the big kids ūüôā For hand luggage and a great day bag I love this floral version from Superdry.

If you need a passport cover or a new luggage tag then Paperchase is the place to go for great designs and there is something to suit everyone.

Travel Toiletries and Gadgets

Boots and Superdrug have a great range of suncream, travel size toiletries and worldwide adapters. Debenhams also stock Korres travel size toiletries which is a favourite of mine from my time spent in Greece.

If you don’t already have one you will want to invest in a selfie stick to show all your friends back at home what an amazing time you are having. The most travel friendly one I have saw was in Boots and it is certainly on my ‘Want List’ for this summer. If you need a new case for your kindle or tablet I spotted a Lego theme in Boots and a retro briefcase style one in Tiger.

It is essential to take the correct footwear for holidays and especially when backpacking so I generally look for lightweight easy to pack shoes that will work for day or night. There was a vast selection of options in Debenhams that fit this perfectly. A pair of flip flops are ¬†also essential for any sunshine holidays and I am now very loyal to Havaianas as they are very comfortable and last a lot longer than other brands I have worn before. Schuh have a great variety in stock including a Snoopy pair, definitely on my ‘Want List’.

If you fancy something with a bit more sparkle Debenhams have a large display of glitter shoes in store now. I also saw some pastel kickers in Schuh another for my ‘Want List’ but they were rather heavy so recommended to wear whilst travelling to avoid flight baggage charges. Schuh also have Toms in store which are not only super light for travelling but the company also provides millions of free shoes for children in need throughout the world.

Backpacking Essentials

Tiger have a variety of travel hairbrushes and hooks/hangers which are great for using in dorms or beach huts for hanging those few special dresses up .They also have a super cool mustache pillow which is perfect for long flights or overnight trains on your adventure.

I always travel with a light pashmina style scarf and this one in New Look caught my eye. Not only are they great to use as a scarf or shawl but they are also a great blanket or pillow to help you get comfy in transit. A love heart keyring with a light from Tiger is great for those hostels down dark lanes and I absolutely adore this camera travel alarm from Paperchase. Another for my ‘Wish List’.

Ready for the Beach

I am forever loosing and breaking sunglasses so I am very happy that Primark do a large selection priced from £1. Paperchase have a variety of sunglasses cases. If you are staying all-inclusive this summer pick up a plastic cup from New Look to prevent multiple journeys for refills as the ones provided in hotels are usually tiny.

All clothing stores have a large variety of bikinis and swimsuits ready for your travels. Make sure you have a beach hat and a beach bag too. Schuh has a great canvas carrier for £2 which could double as a beach bag.

I love this jumpsuit from New Look that is lightweight as well as these polka dot shorts from Debenhams, both perfect to wear for a beach day. If you like to doodle, draw or write then you must visit Paperchase for their collection of notebooks. I am an avid fan of the inspirational messages.

Days and Nights out

I always recommend packing one maxi dress for those visits to churches and temples where you need to cover up a bit. This one from Debenhams looks super comfy and won’t take up much packing space. Henry Holland and Nine in Debenhams both have excellent day to night dresses.

I am a massive fan of this thin oriental style jacket for those cooler evenings. You can never go wrong with classical nautical stripes especially for those boat trips. Debenhams had bags, shoes and tops available. New Look have these great travel size perfumes for making you smell delicious in the evening.

Travel inspiration at home

Why don’t you buy a photo album to print your best photographs and keep those memories alive. A travel journal is also a great idea especially for those longer adventures. if you like to keep souvenirs from your trips then these world map boxes are an amazing way to add wanderlust to your home.

If you are dreaming of a safari holiday then there is a wide selection of items to brighten your home. Or a French style chic hand mirror for your dressing table. Any photography lovers out there can find the perfect piggy bank to save up your spending money for your holiday. All are available at Paperchase.

What is on your ‘Wish List’ for this summer?
